I am more than happy to answer basic questions, and provide an estimate for you.. ....but serious matters, serious cases and serious questions ... should be ... taken.. well... seriously, and that often requires an hour or longer discussion about your case with legal research and a legal opinion. If the attorney has, a to do list for your case or requires an actual legal brief of the law or getting back to you.... that is legal work, isn't it? If you are not sure... I still encourage you to contact me and ask for an estimate. Let's chat.

The cases we work on involve allegations of crime, homicide, accidental serious bodily injury, accidental death, possible imprisonment, license revocation, thousands or millions of dollars in dispute and fines, the foreclosure of your home, and even when and if you will see your own child, and these issues generally require more than 15 minutes to discuss and evaluate.  

I do offer free estimates without the need for legal research. I want you to understand that I get calls all day and I could literally spend days researching one legal question, which require a paid consultation. When in doubt about the time you may need to discuss your case, please ask and contact me. 

As attorney's we hear this all the time.  I provide free estimates, up to 15 minutes to 20 minutes and answer basic questions. No one should expect an attorney or anyone, in any profession to work for free or to give you a full half hour to two hours or longer, of their time for free. 

This has become an expectation of the public, and an oversight and error of the legal profession that expects and demands that all attorneys work for free, take pro bono cases and that we are required or supposed to sit and answer all of your serious legal questions free of charge, prior to being retained. This is simply does not help you as the potential client or attorneys manage their time wisely. 

Attorneys spend years training to conduct research and analyze issues. I asked a plumber to look at a water leak and my A/C repairman for a service check.... and they charged me for their time and skill and I paid them each $200 for the service calls.  If there was additional work to be done... they would expect to the client to pay for their service.

"Does my case qualify for a contingency fee?"

I would need to review your case and see if it qualifies as a contingency fee based case. If it does, I will let you know and will discuss the terms with you.
